All application material must be submitted electronically to Dr. Jill Bisco ([email protected]) in the Finance Department by the date and time indicated above Are you looking to break into the risk management industry? There’s no better place to connect with the nation’s top risk managers than the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) 2016 conference! RIMS, through the Anita Benedetti Student Involvement Program, is continuing its annual tradition of providing outstanding students with the opportunity to attend the RIMS Annual Conference. Once all applications are received, two will be chosen to submit to RIMS for consideration. Students selected by RIMS will be notified on or before January 25, 2016. The event will be held in San Diego, CA April 9‐13, 2016. Anita Benedetti scholars will receive mentorship; participate in stimulating conference sessions, gain valuable career development skills; as well as network with members of the SAC (practicing risk professionals), RIMS Board of Directors, insurers, brokers, and other industry professionals. Student sponsorship includes: 



Complimentary conference registration Hotel accommodations for students (two students to a room) Breakfast, lunch, and some evening meals $600 cash stipend for students to cover travel and incidental expenses Selection criteria: 



Majors in finance, business, or management, who are interested in seeking entry into the risk management or insurance industry Overall GPA of 2.75 or better At least a “C” grade in one or more of the following courses: Risk Management (Property/Casualty; Life/Health; or Derivatives); or Retirement Planning. A completed application packet including nomination, essay, transcript and application Student Application (must be typed): Student must provide a completed application that includes: 1. Typed application form 2. Current transcript (unofficial is acceptable) 3. Resume containing work history, extracurricular activities, internships, honors, participation in associations or organizations related to risk management or insurance, including offices held and volunteer involvement 4. Personal essay – Essay counts for 75% of the selection decision and should address the following key areas: o Student autobiography o Student’s long and short‐term career and life goals o Why the student is interested in risk management or insurance as a potential career o What the student hopes to learn from attending the RIMS Annual Conference and how attending the conference will further their career goals and objectives The essay should be no longer than five pages double spaced and 10 pt font. The student’s name should appear on each page of the essay and the pages need to be numbered.
