PRE-BUSINESS MAJOR GUIDE THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (CBA) The AACSB-accredited, nationally ranked College of Business Administration (CBA) at The University of Akron offers the key to your success in business and in life. As a recent high school graduate, a student transferring from another institution, or even a full-time professional trying to further your career, the Undergraduate Advising staff at the CBA can assist you along your journey. ADMISSION TO THE CBA Pre-business and transfer students need to complete the below admissions requirements to be admitted into the College of Business. Once you complete the requirements, meet with your current academic advisor to initiate the transfer paperwork. Pre-Business students can still participate in CBA student organizations, events and programs, and meet with CBA academic advisors. Complete all of the requirements below: Complete 1 of the courses below: 2.5 GPA Overall Accounting Principles I (6200:201) OR English Composition I and II (3300:111 & 3300:112) Spreadsheet Modeling & Decision Analysis (6200:250) OR Speech (7600:105 or 7600:106) Introduction to Entrepreneurship (6300:201) OR College Algebra (3450:145) or Calculus with Business Applications (3450:210) Principles of Microeconomics (3250:200) or Principles of Macroeconomics (3250:201) Legal & Social Environment of Business (6400:220) OR Marketing Principles (6600:205) Transfer students: 2.5 GPA in Akron courses, as well as a 2.5 average GPA in your Akron + transfer institution courses. PRE-ADMISSION WORKSHOPS Prior to being admitted to the CBA, all pre-Business students should attend a Pre-Admission Workshop. The goals of the Pre-Admission Workshop are to review admission criteria, course and major scheduling priorities and pertinent College policies. Students should arrive at 1:30pm. The session will last one hour.
