Review of Grade
Important Information
1.
You should complete this form if you consider that a mistake has been made in the process of
calculating or determining the grade for a paper and wish to have the grade reviewed. A review of
grade involves a re-marking of all items of assessment that contribute to the final grade, and a
re-calculation of marks (You must include all items of assessment when applying for a review of
grade). As a result of the review your grade may be left unchanged, raised or lowered.

A review of grade is not the same process as special consideration. If you are seeking special
consideration for reasons such as illness, injury, bereavement or trauma there is a separate

3.
We cannot accept application forms until your grade has been made final. Provisional grades can
be amended before they go final. Please check your final grade before completing this application.
4.
This form must be received by the Assessment Office: no later than 14 days after receiving your
final results. That is, the third Monday in March for S Semester papers, the second Monday in
August for A Semester papers, and the second Monday in December for B Semester and full year
papers.
5.
Completed forms must be returned to: Student Administration, Student Centre (Te Manawa), Level
2 of the Library, University of Waikato, Gate 5, Hillcrest Road, Hamilton, New Zealand or mail to:
The Assessment Office, The University of Waikato, Private Bag 3105, Hamilton 3240, New Zealand.
6.
To complete your application you will need to:
(a) complete one application form for each paper you wish to have reviewed;
(b) complete page two of this form;
(c) include all original items of internal assessment, which contribute to the final grade for the
relevant paper, that have been returned to you;
(d) pay the standard fee of $50.00 per paper at the Financial Services Division counter, Student
Centre (Te Manawa), and submit proof of payment receipt with your application (if paying by
cheque - they must be made payable to the University of Waikato)
7.
If your application is:
(a) successful and your grade changes, the fee of $50.00 will be refunded;
(b) unsuccessful, you may appeal to the Director of Student Services against your review of grade
decision. Your appeal must be received within 7 days of the date of the letter which notifies
you of your review of grade result.
