Quick Guide to Career Link
Below includes instructions on utilizing the Career Center’s job board, Career Link, to post part-time, full-time or coop/internship positions, as well as how to successfully manage your postings and on-campus recruiting activities.
Before you get started, please review our job posting policy on page two.
Career Link is monitored by the Career Center staff and we would be happy to assist with any of your recruiting needs!
Create Your Employer Account
1. Go to http://www.collegecentral.com/uakron and click the Employers icon.
2. Click “Create Account” on the Employer Services page.
3. Input Registration Information. All necessary fields are marked with a red asterisk (*) symbol.
4. Fill out information as thoroughly as possible, as this will be used by the Career Center, and click “Register”.
5. Once completed, you will receive an email that we are reviewing your registration. Once your account access has
been approved, you will receive an additional email with your password.
Post your open positions
1. On your employer homepage, you will see “Job Board.” Click “Post, Edit, Repost or Expire Job Postings”, from
there, you will be able to take action on any position you have posted to the University.
2. Click “Post a New Job” to post a new position, and fill in the appropriate information.
3. When finished, click “Save job posting” and your job will be sent to the Career Center for review. You will receive
an email notification regarding the approval of your job posting.
a. Please note: if you choose to have the students apply via Career Link, you will receive an
individual email submission each time a candidate applies. Please verify that the email address
entered in the job description is able to receive inbound messages with attachments.
b. If you choose to have the students apply online via your company website, please enter your
website in the “Apply Online” field and refer to your own applicant tracking system for student
responses to your posting; they will not be tracked via Career Link.
4. To edit a position, click the pencil icon, to expire a position, click the expire icon next to the pencil icon. To repost
a positon, click the green repost icon and enter a new posting deadline.
Review applicant responses to postings:
1. As mentioned above, if you choose to have the students apply via Career Link, you will receive an individual email
submission each time a candidate applies. Please check the email provided in the job description for applicant
responses to your posting.
a. To see the number of students who have viewed your posting, click on the Job ID number.
2. If you choose to have the students apply online via your company website, please refer to your own applicant
tracking system for student responses to your posting.
3. From the employer homepage, complete the “Report Offers/Hires” when you have hired a student for a position.
Search student resumes
1. Employers who have been approved to search resumes will see “Job Candidates” on the employer homepage
and should click “Search Student and Alumni Resumes” and enter appropriate search criteria to view student
resumes.
a. Please note: the ability to view the student’s resume is at the discretion of the student. There is no
guarantee that a student will be available or interested in your specific position should you contact them
via resume search.
On-campus interviewing
1. On your employer home page, you will see “On-Campus Interviewing”. Click on “Post, Edit or Repost OCR jobs;
Check Submissions and Schedules”
2. To post a new job, click “Post a new job” and fill in the appropriate criteria.
a. Please note: there is a text box at the bottom of the form where you will be able to input your
desired interview date(s) and other requests.
3. To view submissions to an already posted position, click “Submissions”
a. Under Candidates, you will see the students who have applied for your position. You must click the
resume icon next to the student’s name to view their resume.

b. Once you have made a decision on the candidate, you can click the radio button next to “Interview”, “Not
Selected” or “Alternate”
i. If selected to interview, the student will receive a notification and be able to select a time slot.
ii. If not selected, the student will receive an email letting them know of the decision
iii. If marked as an alternate, the student will not receive any notification; however, should you
choose to interview that student, you must return to the submissions and change the radio button
to “interview”; the student will then receive a notification to schedule.
iv. If you would like to allow certain candidates the opportunity to schedule before other
candidates (i.e. pre-select) only change the radio button to “Interview” for those select
candidates. Either take “no action” or select “alternate” for the other applicants. This will
allow the selected applicants to schedule their interview times first.
1. Once your pre-selected candidates have completed their time slot choice, you
must go back into the system and change the radio button next to the other
candidate names in order for them to receive the notification to schedule.
c. Once you have made your selections, and the students have selected interview time slots, you will be
able to view your scheduled interviews under “Scheduled interviews”.
d. To view your interview schedule in full, click on “Schedule” under the already posted position title.
Register for a Career Fair
1. When registration is open, on your employer home page, you will see a yellow box inviting you to participate in
the UA Career Fair.
2. Click the link to be redirected to the registration page. Click “For Employers” on the registration page.
3. From there, you will be able to see the cost and other information associated with the Career Fair.
4. Click “Register to attend” and fill out the appropriate information.
5. Once you have completed your registration, it will be reviewed by our office and you will be notified via email
regarding the approval of your registration.
Career Center Job Posting Policy
The Career Center welcomes the opportunity to work with many different employers; however, we are not able to post the
following types of jobs:
 Private, “at home” positions (i.e. babysitting, tutoring)
 Commission-only positions (all positions must pay at least minimum wage)
 Positions that require prospective employees to pay for training/testing, or purchase products/supplies or start-up
kits
 Pyramid/multi-level structures

 Positions from 3 party recruiters/staffing companies who require applicants to pay a fee for services

o Please note that acceptable job postings by 3 party recruiters/staffing companies include:
 Internal staff positions for your company
 Postings for employers for whom:
 You disclose the company name and
 You provide consent from your client company stating that you are authorized to post
positions on our site on their behalf. A brief statement via email is acceptable.
