Cancer Council NSW is looking for an enthusiastic person with a can-do
attitude to support the Community Engagement and Program Delivery team in
the organisation and management of Human Resources.
As part of your work placement, your tasks and responsibilities will fall in line
with the Cancer Council’s strategic plan and mission delivery. You will receive
support, guidance and training as you assist team members in building a
sustainable and efficient volunteer workforce.
Tasks will include:
 Assisting with the development and implementation of the annual
volunteer recruitment strategy
 Researching partnership opportunities with local businesses,
community groups and education providers
 Liaising with, and building relationships with, local stakeholders
 Assisting with the implementation of the volunteer retention strategy
 Developing internal and external communications – including
newsletters, press releases, updates, case studies as needed

across all stages of the cancer journey from research and prevention to end of life.
Volunteers are critical to the success of Cancer Council NSW and comprise over 85% of the
‘workforce’. Volunteers deliver a range of programs and services that support the community and
ultimately help to deliver Cancer Council NSW’s mission.
Cancer Council NSW has six regional offices which service the entire state. The regional teams
have a key role in extending the reach of Cancer Council NSW to all communities across NSW to
deliver high quality programs and raise funds in support of the vision to beat cancer.
The Northern Region of Cancer Council NSW works with communities from Tweed Valley to the
New South Wales / Queensland Boarder and west to Lismore, Tamworth, and Coffs Harbour.
We support, guide, connect and engage with communities of NSW to prevent, manage and inform
people about cancer. We are mobilising thousands of people every day to the realisation cancer is
a social issue and that by taking action, they hold the power to save hundreds of lives each year.
Key purpose
Cancer Council NSW is looking for a skilled individual to assist and support the Community
Engagement and Program Delivery team in the organisation and management of Human
Resources.
The tasks and responsibilities of this role will fall in line with the Cancer Council’s strategic plan and
mission delivery and will assist team members in building a sustainable and efficient volunteer
workforce.


Assisting with the development and implementation of the annual volunteer recruitment and
retention strategy
 Researching partnership opportunities with local businesses, community groups and
education providers
 Assisting to plan and develop volunteer roles
 Liaising with, and building relationships with, local stakeholders
 Developing internal and external communications – including newsletters, press releases,
updates, case studies as needed
 Conducting administration tasks including database entry, printing, scanning, mail outs as
needed
 Ad hoc office tasks
