Teaching with Primary Sources
A Professional Development Opportunity for University of Akron Social Studies Students
This summer, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is
offering inservice and preservice teachers a paid
professional development opportunity that will
connect them with resources and tools available
at the Library of Congress. Participants will
learn to integrate both national and local resources
using inquiry and community-based strategies in the
creation of lessons to compliment Stan Hywet
educational programs.
$100.00 stipend available for those that
complete the entire workshop!
Develop and submit lesson “stem” and summary
Implement lesson in the classroom in collaboration with an inservice teacher (Fall, 2016)
