Facilitation Issue no 15 - September 2003

FMD, University of Waikato
Issue No: 15 – September 2003
Invited opening comment from
Peter Evans
Chubb is the current Security
Provider for the University and
has been so, since June of this
year. We roster 6 permanent
UniSafe officers on campus to
ensure a safe and secure
environment prevails for the
students, staff and visitors alike.
No two days are the same for our
officers and the very nature of
the duties involved coupled with
the complexities of the site
necessitates our staff have a real
affinity with the Campus to ensure
our objectives are successfully
met.
During the past 4 months I have
met some great people through
the contract and I am looking
forward
to
our
continued
association and contributing to the
safe and friendly environment that
exists.

If you go looking for a friend, you're going to find they're very scarce.
If you go out to be a friend, you'll find them everywhere.

Friends of the Fernery
On Thursday 25th September we were
very pleased to have visitors to our
fernery, Ailsa McCrone, Iolanthe Small –
both former employees of the Pukekura
Park Fernery in New Plymouth, Eileen
McKenzie whom assisted with the
funding of the fernery development and
Prof John McCraw whom has been most
helpful with this project.
Ailsa and Iolanthe bought up with them
a collection of fern species they have
either grown or obtained from friends,
and have donated them to our fernery.
We now have a further 41 species to
add to our collection.

To all concerned
On behalf of my family and I, we would like to thank everyone who
gave support and contributed towards our new start. We were
overwhelmed with all the contributions, positive advice and
reassurance that things would get better. As it so happens things are
getting better and we have all settled into our new home.
There will never be enough words to say how we feel, but we would
once again like to thank you all very much.
