College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST)
THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON
CAST (formerly Summit College) is one of six
degree-granting colleges at The University of
Akron. Degree programs are located in the
Polsky Building and Schrank Hall. Choose from
approximately 29 associate degree programs,
11 bachelor’s degree programs, certificate
programs and professional development
opportunities. Degree programs are highly
experiential and tailored to the unique needs
of dual enrollment, traditional, adult, military
and online learners.
CAST Mission
The mission of CAST is to prepare students
for professional and technology-based careers
through applied degrees and partnerships with
area businesses and the larger community.
Its diverse, interdisciplinary, student-centered
faculty promotes creativity and innovation by
connecting theory to practice.

social sciences courses taught by student-centered faculty who
are dedicated to teaching and learning. Faculty in the department
work closely with tutoring services to provide educational tools that
can help successfully complete your courses.

Engineering & Science Technology

products and solve the challenges of industry and commerce.
Degree programs are strongly oriented to industry and emphasize
hands-on applications. Day, evening, weekend and online classes
are offered, plus cooperative work programs and industry-standard
computer labs.
