NEW FREE SUBJECT Workplace Learning: Theory and Practice - EEL513 Details This online subject will be taught over 14 weeks from July to November 2016. Who is it for? You are eligible to enrol in this free subject if you are a practitioner who supervises CSU students in the workplace as part of their professional education university course. Both CSU academics as well as industry partners located in the workplace are encouraged to enrol. It acknowledges that workplaces shape student learning to such an extent and in such different ways from academic environments that specific understanding of workplaces as learning spaces and WPL pedagogies is required. Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to: demonstrate an understanding of the nature and scope of workplace learning critically discuss the role of WPL in higher education discuss the implementation and management of WPL critique contemporary WPL practices in the context of workplace learning theory and research identify and critique options for integrating academic and WPL curricula identify and critique options for enhancing their own WPL practices. The subject will cover the following topics: The role of WPL in higher education Workplaces as learning spaces Situated and workplace learning theories Roles and responsibilities in workplace learning Preparing for workplace learning experiences Technology enhanced workplace learning Assessment in workplace learning Integrating academic and WPL curricula Debriefing and reflecting on WPL experiences.
