LOCAL ACTION PLAN SCHOOL OR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES DIVISION:- Residential and Campus Services Area of Focus Action Outcome & timeline Lead on Action Staff Engagement: RCS is a relatively small division in staffing terms but covers a broad range of activity. The majority of the team are located in Bramber House with only the Sport Service staff located elsewhere. This aids communication within the team. Ongoing Director of RCS Ongoing Head of Sport Housing Services Manager There will be continuous regular divisional management meetings. In addition, the Director will continue to hold regular 1-2-1s with the Director of Estate Services, Head & Deputy Head of Sport and the Housing Services Manager. In turn the section heads will continue to hold their unit meetings which the Director occasionally attends. Staff Development The Sport Service has achieved the Investors in People Gold standard which champions best practice in people management and is externally assessed. Training plans for staff development is at the core of IIP. The Sport Service will continue to achieve recognition at the current level. The Housing Office will be pursuing Investors in People Accreditation from October 2015. LOCAL ACTION PLAN Area of Focus Action Outcome & timeline Lead on Action Broadening Experience All mangers will continue to be well-connected to appropriate professional organisations both within and outside the HE sector, and such relationships are encouraged as part of their Staff Development. These organisations include CUBO, BUCS, BICs and BIFM and gives the managers exposure to best practice and experience elsewhere. Ongoing Section Heads Health & Safety Although responsibility for Health and Safety is part of the Governance office, the Director of Health & Safety sits alongside the RCS management team and health and safety is a regular item on meeting agendas. Ongoing All managers The managers within the Division will continue to liaise closely with our campus partners and services providers to ensure they are briefed appropriately about University strategy and to deal with any other matters of interest or concern to the partners or the University community. Ongoing Director of RCS Director of Estate Services Close liaison with the Students’ Union will continue including the oversight of the University employees who work within the Union. These staff are treated in all respect as University employees including annual appraisal. Ongoing Director of RCS Relationships Partners Students’ Union with Campus
