Student Event Intern Position Description 2016-2017 ($500 stipend per semester) The Student Event Intern program is an elite group of students who gain valuable work experience. Event Interns are current students selected on the basis of leadership, scholarship, professionalism and desire to promote Student Activities events and programs. Event Interns uphold the philosophy, mission and goals of San Juan College by serving at the many events and activities the College provides. Student Event Intern Qualifications Must be enrolled in 3* (summer term) and 6* (fall & spring term) or more credit hours per semester and stay enrolled throughout the semester at San Juan College Must have and maintain 2.5* GPA or higher Have at least 1 semester to contribute to program (preferably 2) Practice and uphold professionalism including responsibility, dependability and punctuality Sincere desire to represent SJC and Student Activities as a Student Event Intern Student Event Intern Responsibilities Work 3 mandatory events each semester + smaller events and office hours, to reach a total of 65+ hours a semester. Attend 3-day overnight retreat in August before the start of the Fall 2016 semester Mandatory events include: o Fall 2016 1. Welcome Back Week/Summer Music Festival 2. Halloween Carnival 3. Luminarias Display o Spring 2017 1. Welcome Back Week 2. Open House/Pow Wow 3. San Juan College Graduation Must contribute 2 office hours a week (Sept. – Nov.) and (Feb.-April) Attend Student Event Intern meeting throughout the semester Must represent San Juan College with professionalism at all times Student Event Intern Incentives Campus Recognition Leadership Training and Completion Certificate Great experience for resume and opportunity for letters of recommendation Access to the Student Activities Student Leadership space (open computers and printers, microwave, refrigerator, etc.) $500 stipend per semester. Be a part of fun and exciting events on campus Exposure to various campus involvement opportunities and skill seminar Establish professional and personal contacts Meet new people Nominations onto Campus Committees Great segue into student government involvement opportunities Nomination into National Society of Leadership and Success Other Information Event Interns are required to work at least 65 hours per semester All responsibilities are required, as stated above, to receive stipend and other program incentives Event Interns are responsible for notifying Student Activities staff if they are unable to make their scheduled event (within 24-hours of event start-time). If missing an event, Event Interns must makeup missed event with an equivalent event that semester. (2) Unexcused absences from an assigned event or meeting will result in your termination from the Student Event Intern Program at the discretion of Student Activities Staff. Selection Criteria Sincere desire to represent Student Activities events and San Juan College Enthusiasm Comfortable in large groups Ability to work well with others Responsibility and dependability Desire to learn and develop skills in Leadership, Customer Service, Community Involvement and Event Planning.
