FACTS
At The University of Akron,
our goal is to provide access to a
top-quality education for a broad
range of people, and to create
and add value that enables student success. Our mission is to
ensure student success and leverage our region’s unique assets
in the creation of knowledge and application of research that
benefits humankind.
We are committed to the ideal that every graduate should
understand and appreciate how new knowledge is created
and applied. Each individual should be entrepreneurial,
innovative, disciplined and a well-rounded thinker. For in this
conceptual-knowledge economy, those abilities – as well as a
global awareness and emotional resiliency – are the fundamental
new skills of the 21st century.
We are mindful that the truest measure of any university’s
performance is found in the breadth and depth of its
graduates’ achievements. This is the basis for the pledge we
make to our students, that “we will measure our success,
by your success!”
