A brilliant student throughout her academic career, she went to Moscow in 1973 on a scholarship. She did her Masters and Ph.D. in Russian Philology from PFU, Moscow. She has been engaged in teaching Russian for almost three decades. Her fields of interests include phonetics and phonology, phraseology, methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language and linguistic analysis. She is also involved in promoting bilateral relationship between India and Russia through academic endeavor and her write-ups. She has vastly travelled abroad. She participated in two International Congresses of MAPRYAL (International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature) in Prague and Berlin. She had earlier worked for Mir Publishers, Moscow. She has been a member of Board of Studies of Shivaji University, Kolhapur and University of Pune for a number of years. In July 2009 a guest lecture was organized for the students of Russian, French, German languages. The lecture was delivered by Dr. B. Hasan, an eminent educationist, international columnist, poet and thinker, laureate of the Pablo Neruda International Literary Award, based in Ujjain. The topic of the lectures was The Growing Role of Foreign Languages in the Era of Globalization. The lecture was very well received as was visible from the volley of questions the guest had to face. Perhaps, the lecture went on to play a significant role in inspiring many students from a number of streams like engineering, pharmacy, management etc. to learn at least one foreign language and at times even two foreign languages. 2. A Three-Day Workshop with Prof. T.V. Larina from P.F.U. Moscow. And visiting Professor at the Cambridge University. During the Workshop from 28 Feb to 2 March 2009 Prof. T.V. Larina extensively conversed with our students pacifying their queries not only about Russian Language and Literature but also regarding the latest socio-political changes in Russia. She also delivered a lecture on Cross-cultural Communication. This lecture wa open for all the teachers and students of all the departments. The workshop helped the participants in broadening their world-outlook and bridging the gap between the perceptions of different cultures. 3. A lecture by Dr. B. Hasan was organized on the topic “The Growing Role of Foreign Languages in the Globalized World” on the 27 Jan. 2010 4. One –Day Workshop was organized with Mr. V. V. The Competition was organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. 3. In 1978 The Moscow City Committee awarded a Diploma of the First Degree for securing the First Place in the VII Moscow City Olympiad of Russian Language and Literature among Foreigners Studying in Moscow. 4. In 1979 The Student Scientific Society of the People‟s Friendship University awarded a Certificate of Recognition for Securing the Second Place in the Competition of Dissertations. 5. In 2008 The Ministry of Higher Education of Russia and People‟s Friendship University of Russia jointly awarded a Certificate of Merit for securing the Second Place in the contest of the Teachers of Russian language of India. 6.
