The Verizon Foundation is dedicated to improving student engagement and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). That’s why we’re launching the Verizon Innovative Learning Grant: $20,000 grants to support these initiatives across the U.S. to take STEM instruction to the next level. November 9, 2015 WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Teachers and faculty members representing any public elementary, middle or high school in the United States (plus U.S. territories) in which 70% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch are eligible to apply for a chance to win a Verizon Innovative Learning Grant. HOW CAN THE VERIZON INNOVATIVE LEARNING GRANT BE USED? Create or enhance a: ■ STEM Lab ■ Makerspace ■ Design thinking or entrepreneurship program ■ Computer science, coding or programming course Purchase new technology, equipment or materials for students or teachers, including: ■ 3D printers ■ Mobile device accessories for academic use (e.g., probes, adaptive technologies) Support professional development for teachers on the integration of technology, including: ■ Securing a technology coach / instructional technology coach ■ Professional development on the use of technology, individualized learning environments, STEM ■ Curricula and resources to support new STEM subjects or projects The Verizon Innovative Learning Grant cannot be used for the purchase of technology hardware (computers, netbooks, laptops, routers), devices (tablets, phones), data or Internet service and access.
