Task
This is a group assessment task. You will be allocated to a group of four students and each group will
be provided with a collaborative space on Interact 2 to complete the assessment task.
Each group will be required to develop and submit one narrated power point presentation. Each
group member is required to contribute equally to the power point narration. The power point
presentation will be graded according to the marking criteria and each group member will receive
the same mark.
This group assessment has three parts:
1. Exploration of individual understandings of professional practice and practice-based education in
relation to individual discipline area(s).
2. Exploration of theoretical constructs of professional practice and practice-based education.
3. Development of broader understanding of professional practice and practice-based education
through the drawing together of parts one and two.
1. Using photo-elicitation techniques you are required to explore and share your understanding of
professional practice and practice-based education. Photo-elicitation involves the use of
photographs to facilitate discussion and development of new understandings of often taken-forgranted experiences. Each group member should take at least one photograph that represents
professional practice and one photograph that represents practice-based education. These
photographs should be shared with all group members with a short explanation of how they
represent professional practice and practice-based education to the photographer. All group
members can then comment on each of the photographs shared. In this way each group will
collaboratively develop their understanding of professional practice and practice-based education.
The photographs should form the foundation for part 1 of the power point presentation.
2. Your group is required to provide a brief synopsis of contemporary writings in professional
practice and practice-based education. The prescribed text and learning materials listed in the
subject outline will provide appropriate resource material for this part of the assessment task.
Students are also encouraged to refer to discipline specific writings as appropriate.
3. Your group is required to articulate the development of a broader understanding of professional
practice and practice-based education through the drawing together of parts one and two. Students
are encouraged to incorporate discipline specific aspects within their descriptions of professional
practice and practice-based education.
