Dear Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2017,
Starting March 1st, Lake View High School is sponsoring an ACT preparation course of all interested
students in 11th Grade. We currently have 85 students registered for the program. We meet Tuesday
and Thursday in rooms 325, 330, and 338. Each student signing up for the ACT preparation course
will receive the following:
Highly Customized Classroom Teaching. Academic Approach classrooms are more efficient and
effective than others in test preparation because of the level of customized teaching we achieve
through our detailed diagnostic reports and extensive online and in-print coursework. Diagnostic
and practice exams will enable Academic Approach to tailor the teaching to the most common and
immediate test preparation needs of the entire class as revealed by a score-report analysis.
Expert Tutors Mentoring Students. At Academic Approach, we see test preparation as a teachable
moment: an opportunity to engage students in real learning. Classroom instruction, while targeted at
the ACT, is applicable to academic work in high school as well. Student will learn skills that will
transfer to their high school classes. We, as tutors, are warm, supportive, teaching professionals who
know how to make a classroom experience not only effective in raising scores, but also one that is
academically enriching, and, just as importantly, fun.
Communication and Support. At Academic Approach, we understand and appreciate that, in order
for our programs to succeed, parents often require information and guidance. Our local directors
supervise all programs and insist on their quality. We are always available for any questions or
concerns you may have.
LAKE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL ACT PRACTICE TEST
For students enrolled in the ACT Course, Academic Approach also includes two full-length unofficial
practice ACT tests. These tests provide students and tutors with essential information on
performance and help students set goals for their college applications. It is essential that students
attend the practice tests, which will be given on Saturday mornings, so that we can tailor our
instruction to the needs of the students. Academic Approach prides itself on its highly customized
instruction, and practice tests make this possible. Students also use these tests as a way to explicitly
apply strategies and skills to a real testing situation. For any questions or scheduling concerns, please
contact the Academic Approach School Programs team at 773-348-8914.
