Call to order at 6:42pm (5-­‐10 mins for 1-­‐4) 2. Roll call of members 3. Approval of Agenda o Arnold motioned to approve an addition of a resolution related to new charter school proposal in neighborhood, Mark seconded, all voted in favor o Monte motioned to approve agenda, Lisa seconded, all voted in favor 4. Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting on March 19th, 2015 and Special Meeting on April 21st, 2015. o Monte motioned approval, Arnold seconded, all votes in favor 5. Public Participation (limit to two (2) minutes with prior sign-­‐up required) o Megan Cusik – Rodgers Park Neighbors for Public Schools, CPS parent and librarian § Noble proposing two charter schools in the area – one on Irving and one in Rodgers Park § A group is developing a resolution that neighborhood high schools’ LSCs are passing, elementary schools in the neighborhood have voiced their support as well • Reaching out to alderman and state senators for support • Gathering support for neighborhood community groups (e.g. baby wranglers in Rodgers Park) § CPS is forming neighborhood advisory councils, unclear what constitutes a neighborhood in this process, start date is unclear also § Ultimately, charters schools could threaten the vitality of neighborhood schools – first and foremost a resource issue 6. § Scott motioned to approve, Monte seconded, all voted in favor o Approve check to Crystal Gardens-­‐Navy Pier for final senior prom payment not to exceed $12,000. § Large percentage of cost covered through tickets and student fees § Monte motioned to approve, Mark seconded, all voted in favor o Approve check to Jostens for final yearbook payment not to exceed $9,000. § Mr. Grens will reassess commitment to Jostens in future to decrease cost § Monte motioned to approve, Mark seconded, all voted in favor o Approve total payment to Poretta's Restaurant for JROTC Military Ball of $6,300. § Large percentage of cost covered through JROTC payments § Monte motioned to approve, Mark seconded, all voted in favor o Approve Asset Disposal of obsolete and defunct technology. § Advance technology group has taken what they can to rebuild and recycle § Currently at almost a one-­‐to-­‐one student to computer ratio throughout the school § Monte motioned to approve, Mark seconded, all voted in favor o Approve movement/use of PAC funds. § Postpone until next regular meeting o Resolution related to new charter school proposal § Mr. Grens has been collaborating with area principals to learn about what’s happening and work together § Currently have 34 students in the LVHS attendance boundary that already go to charter schools -­‐ $187,000 for the school § The campus itself will not be in our attendance boundary § See it as our job to ensure students want to go to LVHS, but feel it as an insult to the work we’ve been doing here, LVHS has been improving every year, and the community is rallying around us § Need more information on charter school approval process § Mr. Grens is drafting a personal letter § Alderman Pawar has expressed previous dedication to neighborhood schools § Inequity in funding and resources is primary concern, we won’t be on an level playing field § Next actions: • Arnold will write a draft resolution and share with the LSC o Approval of internal accounts § CPS implementing a new budgeting tool § Monte motioned to approve, Mark seconded, all voted in favor 7. Reports (30 minutes) o Chair § Verification of completion of LSC modules § Planning to discuss committees in next regular meeting § Losing two parent reps next year due to student graduation, need to begin recruiting o Student Representative – not present o Principal § Acknowledgement of principal evaluation § School leadership: more professional development time for teachers next school year, as well as advisory § Instructional leadership: ILT “Learning Walk” focused on “Questioning and Discussion Strategies” § Honor | Ownership | Mastery | Education

§ Student-­‐Centered Learning Climate: LSC student rep voting on 5/14, professional development on “restorative conversations” § Professional Dev and HR Management: seeking part-­‐time Security Officer from 10am-­‐2pm § Parent Involvement and Community Partnership: we have met goal of 30% parent completion of My Voice My School survey, Comcast Cares event painted hallways, Northwestern Brain Fair attended by 800 families § School Management and Daily Ops: Still awaiting budget from CPS, planning to engage LSC in CIWP and budget in next meeting, #GrowCommunity (local Aldermen) collaboration for increased financial/capital support o Other as available: Department Leader, PPLC, etc. 8.
