Updates on Family and Community Engagement
i. Lake View Partners – 501c3 paperwork filed
1. 3 meetings held to date
2. Starting to plan student recruitment events for the spring
3. Adopt-A-Room has started – bids on 4 rooms
ii. Family and community engagement with current students’ families
1. Harvard Club of Chicago came in and did a workshop around college applications and
financial aid. Poor attendance.
2. Band concert last night – great attendance
3. Challenge is limit results from current communication – potential ideas:
a. Mom’s and Dad’s nights at local bars or someone’s house – has worked well for
Coonley and Payton
b. Oak Park River Forrest sends very detailed newsletters of events – always high
attendance
c. St. Andrew’s hosts “friendraisers”
d. Food as an incentive – picnic on lawn
e. Send news blasts to Alderman’s office
Review of Principal Evaluation Process for approval
i. Feedback:
1. Interest in having a self assessment form the principal – as highlighted as a best practice
in reference guide
a. Principal could provide personal professional development plan in January
b. A nice to have – not essential
ii. Arnold motioned to approve, Monte seconded, Mark abstained, all others voted in favor
1. Action items: Arnold will work with Monte to develop an informal feedback process for
January
Approve Lake View HS Booster Club fundraiser
i. Super bowl raffle – raffle ticket sales ($50/ticket) for a cash prize
1. Each sport would sell 100 tickets, anticipated revenue total ~$8,000
ii. Arnold motioned in favor, Monte seconded, all voted in favor

i. School Leadership: Mid-year survey administered to staff today, collaborate meetings taking
place, PPLC forming in January (independent advisory body to the principal and the LSC)
ii. Instructional Leadership: Hour of Code events – sophomores worked with 7th graders from
Coonley at Aon Center, “R&D Exchange” event – Microsoft partnered students up with mentors
and set up design challenges in school, continuing to with UofC’s Network for College Success
iii. Student-Centered Learning Climate: YTD 89.9%, Haunted History Tour incentive, new tardy
policy, tardy numbers appear to be on a decline, YTD FOT 92%, and 86% SOT
iv. Professional Development and Human Resources Management: ILT leading “Professional
Learning Cycle”, reviewing student applications (~1350 applications received), REACH
observations in progress, ILT conducting in a “Learning Walk” at Lincoln Park
v. Parent Involvement and Community Partnership: Harvard Club event, 501c3 meeting on 12/11,
updating “At-a-Glance”, PAC meeting on 11/18
vi. School Management & Daily Operations: painting forthcoming, new cafeteria doors
forthcoming, electrical installation at door 5 and door 6
vii. Interpersonal Effectiveness: continue to use robo-calls regarding attendance (also bilingual),
parent conferences taking place with Admin & Youth Intervention Specialist for attendance and
student intervention, website updates in progress, admin winter retreat on Monday.
d. Other: Department Leader, PPLC (forthcoming), etc.
i. PPC report from November meeting:
1. Building issues have been resolved with exception of stained glass
2. ISS – unclear how teachers are supposed to coordinate on student work, but seems
mostly resolved due to change in ISS room
3. Positive feedback on teacher collaboration meetings and shift to during the school day
e. Announcement of Next Meeting: Thursday, January 15th, 2015, 6:30pm
