COPYRIGHT – Your Responsibilities Copyright is an important consideration for all staff and students of Charles Sturt University. Copyright law provides a balance between rewarding creators for their work and ensuring reasonable access by users. CSU is committed to observing copyright law and upholding the rights of creators and users. CSU subscribes to a number of licences that allow the use of copyright materials provided the conditions are observed. CAL Licence (Part VB of the Copyright Act 1968) permits CSU to make reproductions, both hard copy and electronic, of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works, and to communicate them for the educational purposes of the institution provided the University complies with certain conditions and limits. Screenrights Licence (Part VA of the Copyright Act 1968) allows the University to copy and communicate material recorded from Australian radio and television as well as material that has been made available online by the broadcaster such as podcasts or vodcasts, conditions apply. Music Licence – under this agreement, CSU is able to reproduce, communicate and perform an extensive repertoire of musical works for educational purposes without having to obtain prior permission of the copyright holders. Articles and electronic books available full-text online can only be used in accordance with their licences. More information: Use of Database Articles. eBook permissions CSU Interact is the Universities Online Learning Environment. Links can be placed in Interact to articles available in Electronic Reserve (CAL licence) and full-text databases. Audio-Visual material copied under the Screenrights licence can be loaded on Interact as well as materials where the copyright owner grants permission; copyright is owned by the University; copyright has expired; works available under Creative Commons Licence; and supplied under licence for use online. References to these materials can be included on Interact, not the articles themselves.
