Introduction to Leadership Development for Women Program (LDW) – 2015 Entry The 2015 LDW Program (Leadership Development for Women) is for aspiring, and existing female leaders who lead and manage processes, policies, programs and/or people within the CSU environment. The program is an entry level leadership development program focussed on the personal and professional development of women in the higher education sector. Upon completion participants may wish to undertake the Leaders and Managers (LAMP) program or the CSU Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management (GCULM) or may go on to complete a Diploma of Business, or the Master of Business Leadership at CSU. Learning Outcomes At the end of the program participants will: be able to identify their personal and professional leadership behaviours and use these in working with others have a working knowledge of the strategic direction, structures, processes and systems of CSU and be able to build relationships and networks across CSU be able to use contemporary leadership frameworks and theory in their practice, particularly in relation to gender, and in a dynamic and highly politicized higher education environment be able to design, plan, implement and evaluate an action learning project that will respond to a leadership challenge at CSU Delivery Participants in the 2015 program will study as part of a supervised and supported group cohort with other CSU staff. This work-based program includes three face to face skills development workshops; structured online learning modules; virtual and face to face collaboration; action learning, and peer support groups; and mentoring. The content will focus on building self-awareness; collaboration, action learning and leadership; contemporary leadership issues within the context of CSU and external higher education environment; and relationship building and networking to build your professional brand. The Program will be delivered from May to November 2015. Workshop dates are: Introductory workshop with a welcome from the Vice-Chancellor - 5th & 6th May 2015, Bathurst campus Skills development workshop with national leadership development facilitator, Young, one day in August/September ( date to be advised) Final workshop and presentation of project recommendations to senior leaders, 10th & 11th November 2015, Wagga Wagga campus Suitability / Eligibility This program is suitable for CSU academic and professional/general female staff with leadership and management responsibilities, or who are aspiring to become a leader or manager. Eligibility to undertake the program requires the capacity to undertake action learning in the workplace and support of the staff member’s supervisor. Time Commitment Attendance at the three workshops (5 days total) is compulsory. Four hours of study per week for 6 months (approximately 100 hours) is considered a normal minimum time commitment in order to be able to successfully complete the 2015 program. The approval and use of CSU study leave is available and encouraged for professional/general staff, however participants should also be aware that they may need to use some of their own time in order to successfully complete the program requirements. Cost The course is funded by the LDW Steering Committee. Participant’s work areas will be responsible for travel and accommodation expenses. Participation in this program will involve overnight stays in May (Bathurst), August (Young) and November (Wagga) 2015. Application Process Please complete and submit the online application form.
