Becoming a Member of MERLOT
Membership in MERLOT is free. You can easily become a MERLOT Member by clicking on the link on the
home page:
Being a MERLOT Member enables you to do all of the activities
listed in the box. You will be presented with a widget that walks
you through the three steps in joining MERLOT.
Step 1
Step 1 on joining is shown below:
First, add your first name and last
name as well as your email address.
Note the option you have to enable
the display of your email to other
MERLOT Members (the default is to
allow).
Add your job title.
Select the type of Member you will
be (Most will be either Faculty or
Student)
Then find your discipline from the
drop down menus. Note that there
are several sub-categories that fall
under each major category of
discipline. You can be very explicit. You can also add several categories, one at a time.
Finally, you will be asked if you would like to be a Peer Reviewer for MERLOT. If you check that box, you
will receive another communication about GRAPE Camp, our Peer Reviewer Training program.

Step 2
Step 2 is your affiliation. Each of
the options comes from a drop
down list. Just select your choice
and you will continue to the next
step.
Don’t forget to click on Add, so
the affiliation is added. (Note
that you can add several
affiliations if you work at two
different institutions).
Step 3
Step 3 is the final step. Select a
Username that you will
remember. Also select the
Password you want to use and
then confirm it.
Finally, read the Membership
Agreement and check the box
that you accept the agreement.

Once you have joined
MERLOT, when you are logged
in, you will have the
customized Troy University
notice along with the logo on
your home page.
