With the consent of YES Association, the University may from time to time vary these regulations.
The YES Association will endeavour to provide two paid work placements relevant to the student’s degree requirements but this will be
subject to availability. The work placements will be undertaken in a YES member workshop. The student will complete a technical report
at the conclusion of each work placement as part of their degree requirements. Technical reports are expected to contain in-depth
electronic knowledge for the mutual benefit of both student and YES group.
2
1st year level placement: Generally, the scholar will learn as much as they can from master diagnostician within a YES workshop. Perform
apprenticeship type work (depending on candidates ability), connect automotive oscilloscope, perform measurements etc. some analysis,
and any other duties deemed relevant by the workplace supervisor.
2nd year level placement: Generally, the scholar is expected to approach diagnostic problems independently, and when encountering
difficulties in doing so to discuss with master diagnostician and do fill-in jobs (maybe more advanced mechanical work such as cam belts
etc.), as well as any other duties deemed relevant by the workplace supervisor.
The scholar is expected to develop into a fully independent diagnostician. This means learning from past experience and being able to
pinpoint exactly where the issue is with decisive diagnostic conclusions.
The YES Association will endeavour to provide support and guidance should the student choose to undertake their 4th year Honours
Research & Management Project in an area of research identified during the work placements.
