STARRING OF ITEMS (Agenda item 3, 5, 7 and 11) 2. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING (Agenda item *2) The minutes of the previous meeting of the OHS Southern Committee were adopted as a true and correct record. 3. Date: 5 March 2014 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES (Agenda item *3) 3.1.1 CSU Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) Committees – Terms of Reference was reviewed and agreed upon the changes made. 3.1.2 Standard Agenda Template – was reviewed and agreed upon. 3.1.3 Standard Minutes Template – was reviewed and agreed upon. 3.1.4 Draft Driver Safety Policy v4.0 – Committee reviewed changes made, put forwarded some further changes. Melissa Lombe will make the changes then send out the final document to committee members before it is to be put forward. 3.1.5 Draft Driver Safety Guideline v1.0 - Committee reviewed changes made, put forwarded some further changes. Melissa Lombe will make the changes then send out the final document to committee members before it is to be put forward. 4. 3.1.6 RTA Fatigue Management Procedure for Reference – Committee members reviewed document. 3.1.7 Committee Training – Dawn Mullins to send out information flyer with dates, anyone who is interested in attending training should review and send dates back to Dawn. REPORT FROM THE PRESIDING OFFICER (Agenda item 4) Alek Zander presented his report to the WHS Southern Committee. st UHSMC met on 31 March 2014. Particularly interested in getting Driver Safety Guidelines and Policy finalised (which we have largely now dealt with at this meeting). Discussions were had regarding the situation with changed circumstances surrounding coverage of workers under worker’s comp. whilst travelling for work – when and when not a worker might be covered. In this connection the Committee was investigating the purchase of additional cover to ensure that workers wages were covered whilst travelling for work (further in Melissa’s report). 5. REPORT FROM THE MANAGER, WORK, HEALTH AND SAFETY (WHS) (Agenda item 5) Melissa Lombe presented her report to the WHS Southern Committee. M.Lombe currently acting as WHS Manager. New Injury Management Coordinator working in dept. – Peta Evans – until recruitment of new WHS Manager. SCRIM system (Online Injury and Hazard Management System) fine tuning happening at present. Working with Vendor on some small technical issues. Will be rolling out to Charles Sturt Campus Services and possibly DFM for trial in the next 3 weeks GCC registration open. 19 teams registered for event – commencing 28/5/14. Less teams that 2013 - unsure as to reasons why at this stage. Journey Provision of Workers Compensation Act: o Changes in 2012 saw travel from home to work and work to home no longer covered by WC Insurance. o Legislation yet to be fully tested in courts o University has sought to take out Journey Insurance Policy to cover these journeys - policy commenced 30 04 14. Covers wages only and is in line with entitlements provision as per WC Legislation. Medical costs to be covered by Medicare or private health insurance. 6. REPORTS FROM SUB-COMMITTEES OF SOUTHERN OHS COMMITTEE (Agenda item 6) At this present time there are no sub-committees to report. 7. INCIDENT REPORTS REVIEWED (Agenda item 7) Melissa Lombe to send incident report for committee to review and table anything to be presented at the next meeting. 8. REVIEW OF HAZARD REPORTS (Agenda item 8) The Southern WHS committee agreed to note that there was no Hazard Report summary received from the WHS Section detailing incidents. LOCAL SAFETY INITIATIVES AND RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES (Agenda item 9) Nil 10. ISSUES FOR REFERRAL TO THE UNIVERSITY SAFETY AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (USHMC) (Agenda item 10) There were no issues to report to the USHMC committee. 11. 12. OTHER BUSINESS (Agenda item 11) 11.1 Safe access to Communications and Creative Industries at Wagga during road building from entry roundabout to Winery on Easter side of hill – Ken Simpson said that issues have been discussed with the contractor and resolved. 11.2 Provision of information cards to distribute (eform is Okay) with our information for staff / students – Melissa Lombe to look at this. 11.3 Safe pedestrian access between bus stop at entry and building now that every second bus does not drive through campus – Terry O’Meara said that issues have been look into and resolved. URGENT BUSINESS (Agenda item 12) Nil 13.
