WORKERS COMPENSATION AND INJURY MANAGEMENT INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYEES
Details of your injury have been registered with the University’s workers compensation insurer, Employers Mutual,
and a representative from the insurer will contact you soon to provide you with advice and information about
managing your injury within the workers compensation system.
Your key contact for the management of your injury is your supervisor.
The Division of Human Resources will co-ordinate the services required to manage your injury and this will be done in
consultation with you and your supervisor. For example, a rehabilitation provider may be appointed to work with you
and your supervisor to identify suitable duties and develop return to work plans.

INCIDENT REPORT
If you have not already done so please complete an Accident/Incident Report Form as soon as possible and scan and
email it to [email protected].
Alternatively, please fax your report to 02 6338 4036
Please provide your supervisor with a copy of the report.
In some circumstances a representative from Employers Mutual may contact you to conduct a factual investigation,
and/or advise you if you are required to attend a medical consultation with their treating doctor. Please raise any
concerns you may have regarding this process.

Please send all forms, medical accounts, medical certificates or other documentation that relates to your
injury/illness to your supervisor.

Please note:
• All x-rays, scans and tests must have prior approval by the Insurer. Costs may not
be covered if procedure has not been approved.
• All appointments/referrals to specialists must have prior approval by the Insurer.
• Please forward any referrals to Peta Evans at [email protected] .
• Injured employees may make appointments with a physio without approval from the
Insurer – as long as the treating doctor has requested this.
• All other therapies (massage, chiropractor etc) must be registered with Workcover in
order to get reimbursement – please contact Peta Evans or ask the provider before
making the appointment.
• All absences from work due to your injury MUST be covered by a Workcover
Certificate – certificates cannot be backdated.
• ALL appointments should be made outside of work hours wherever possible –
please check with your supervisor if this cannot be done.
• Reasonable travel to and from appointments may be reimbursed by the Insurer –
please check with Peta Evans for details.
