Allied Security Scholarship R EGULATIONS 1. Purpose 1.1. The Allied Security Scholarship was established to support student’s personal development, and that of their families and community, while they undertake full-time study at the University of Waikato. 2. Eligibility 2.1. To be eligible, candidates must: a) be enrolled fulltime in the second or subsequent year of study towards an undergraduate degree at the University of Waikato; b) be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident; c) not have previously received an Allied Security Scholarship, and; d) not be a current employee of Allied Security. 3. Value 3.1. The Scholarship will offer two awards annually and have a value of up to $1,500. 3.2. All applicants may have the opportunity for potential employment with Allied Security during the academic year and holiday period. 4. Application 4.1. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2016. 4.2. Along with the prescribed online application form, each applicant must submit: a) a maximum two-page personal statement detailing: proposed course of study proposed future career plans recent and current community involvement b) two character references. c) a CV (no more than three A4 pages) 5. Selection Criteria 5.1. The Selection Panel will pay particular attention to the applicant’s desire to enhance and improve their personal development, and that of their families and/or community. Allied Security Scholarship 6. Selection Panel 6.1. The Selection Panel will comprise of two representatives from Allied Security and a representative of the University’s Scholarships Committee. 6.2. The Selection Panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into following the selection meeting. 7. Awarding 7.1. The offer of a Scholarship must be accepted by the date indicated in the letter of offer. If a candidate declines a Scholarship, or does not take it up, the Selection Panel may offer the Scholarship to another candidate. 7.2. The Scholarship will have a maximum tenure of one year and must be taken up in the year for which it is offered. 7.3. The Scholarship will be paid out in a lump sum in the form of a cheque. 8. Other Conditions 8.1. The Scholarships Committee may terminate a Scholarship at any time and recoup any funds awarded, if it is not satisfied that the recipient is following the required programme or is not otherwise complying with the conditions governing the Scholarship and/or the regulations of the University of Waikato. The holder of a Scholarship shall have the right to appeal to the Education Committee against any decision to terminate the Scholarship. 8.2. By accepting an Award, the recipient agrees to participate in any publicity concerning the scholarship arranged by the University of Waikato and Allied Security. The recipient may be asked to attend a presentation ceremony.
