Recreation Opportunity Guide
Visitor Information:
Hellgate Overlook sits high on the
cliffs above Hellgate Canyon and offers spectacular views of the Rogue
River, Hellgate Canyon, and Hellgate
Bridge. This site has been designated
a Watchable Wildlife area for viewing
osprey, great blue heron, waterfowl,
and cliff swallows. The best viewing
season is from May through October.

Location:
Parking is available in a small lot adjacent to the road. It is dangerous to
venture onto the cliffs beyond the
rock walls in the parking area.

Driving Directions:
From Grants Pass, Oregon take I-5 north to the Merlin exit. Follow the Merlin-Galice
Road west about 9.2 miles. Watch for signs.
