Vale District to waive recreation fees June 9
VALE, Ore. – On Saturday, June 9, as part of the National Get Outdoors Day or GO Day, the Vale
District, Bureau of Land Management will waive all recreation fees at BLM recreation sites
throughout the Vale District.
The 5th annual National Get Outdoors Day (GO Day) encourages healthy, active outdoor fun at
sites across the nation. GO Day is an outgrowth of the Get Outdoors USA! campaign, which
encourages Americans, especially our youth, to seek out healthy, active outdoor lives and embrace
our parks, forests, refuges and other public lands and waters. This is an opportunity for American
families to experience traditional types of outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and hiking.
The pilot effort of National Get Outdoors Day was launched on June 14, 2008 and has grown every
year. GO Day builds on the success of More Kids in the Woods and other important efforts to connect
Americans and especially children with nature and active lifestyles.

-BLMAbout the BLM: The BLM manages more land – more than 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This
land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The
Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout
the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use
and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as
outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural,
historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
