BLM to Perform Repairs on Brickyard Helipond
Roseburg, Ore. – The BLM will be completing repair work on Brickyard Helipond and will close
BLM Road 31-9-1.3 and the helipond from August 12, through October 1, 2015. The project site is
40 miles southwest of Roseburg.
The Brickyard Helipond is strategically located in the Coos Forest Protection Association District
near the border with the Douglas Forest Protection Association District, about 40 miles southwest
of Roseburg. It is a critical pond for fire suppression efforts in the area. Severe leakage through
the embankment of the pond has lowered water levels to the point that they are no longer sufficient
for fire suppression efforts. The project will repair the leakage, restoring water levels to their
designed capacity.
Signs indicating construction work will be posted at the junction of BLM Roads 30-9-11.0 and 309-26.1 (4.5 miles before the construction site) and at the junction of BLM Roads 31-8-6.1 and 31-88.0 (1.85 miles before the construction site).

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known
as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM
also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's mission is to
manage and conserve the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations under our
mandate of multiple-use and sustained yield. In Fiscal Year 2014, the BLM generated $5.2 billion in receipts
from public lands.
