Rock Creek Road Chip Seal Starting Operations
Roseburg, Ore. – This information is an update to the July 24 news release, “BLM to Perform
Road Maintenance on Rock Creek Road.”
The Rock Creek Chip Seal project will take place from August 10th until approximately
August 29th, 2015.
The Rock Creek Road chip seal project, that was scheduled to begin on August 3, 2015, was
delayed until fire danger decreased. On July 29, 2015 the Douglas Forest Protective Association
(DFPA) imposed Industrial Fire Precaution Level 4, prohibiting all industrial activity throughout
DFPA's district. This closure included the Rock Creek Road chip seal project area. The closure
area now has been reduced by DFPA to a Level 3.
The BLM will begin the chip seal project along Rock Creek Road (Rd # 26-3-1.0), East Fork Road
(Rd# 25-2-11.0) and North Fork of the East Fork (Rd# 25-1-18.0). The road work will involve chip
sealing of the roadway. Please see attached map of the project.
During active road work there may be minor delays of up to 15 minutes. Members of the public are
asked to reduce driving speed due to workers and equipment in the roadway and loose gravel on the
roadway.
