The Roseburg District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will open up limited recreation use areas along the North Umpqua River and sections of the North Umpqua Trail starting Saturday, August 15, 2015. This area is currently under a closure due to the recent Cable Crossing fire and associated suppression and rehabilitation efforts.

BLM Opens Limited Areas along the North Umpqua River
Roseburg, Ore. – The Roseburg District Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will open up limited
recreation use areas along the North Umpqua River and sections of the North Umpqua Trail
starting Saturday, August 15, 2015. This area is currently under a closure due to the recent Cable
Crossing fire and associated suppression and rehabilitation efforts.
The following areas and trail sections open August 15, 2015 to public use:
• The north side of the North Umpqua River adjacent to Highway 138 is open; this includes
vehicle pullouts and fishing access to the north side of river only. Starting at Idleyld Park
southeast to end of the active closure area.
• The North Umpqua River is still under a closure for boating at this time from Baker
Wayside to Deadline Falls.
• Swiftwater Day-Use is open.
• Swiftwater Trailhead and North Umpqua Trail to Deadline Falls is open. The trail is closed
to all public access past Deadline Falls.
• The North Umpqua Trail is open from the Tioga Bridge to Bob Butte. The trail is closed
from Bob Butte west (downriver) to Deadline Falls.
• The Swiftwater County Park is open.
All closure areas associated with the Cable Crossing Fire other than the above listed remains in
effect for public safety and ongoing fire related activities. Please see attached map for complete
closure overview of the area. Please respect closure signs and travel safely through the area.
