Roseburg District Resource Advisory Committee Meetings Planned for
August/September 2011
Roseburg, Oregon. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roseburg District Resource
Advisory Committee (RAC) will meet several times in August and September to review
applications for projects that benefit Federal lands or resources and provide recommendations on
which to fund.
Meetings are scheduled for August 29, September 12, September, 19, and September 26, 2011.
The September 26, 2011, meeting will be held only if needed for the RAC to complete project
selection. All meetings will be held at the Roseburg BLM District office on 777 NW Garden
Valley Blvd.
This year the committee will review approximately 34 applications submitted by agencies and
non-profit organizations and will recommend how to spend approximately $560,000 of Title II
funds.
The funds are made available as part of the Secure Rural Schools and Community SelfDetermination Program (H.R. 1424, Sec. 601), which provides funds to counties that traditionally
have been supported by federal timber receipts.
Title II of the act designates a portion of each county’s funds for projects that benefit Federal
lands and resources. The Resource Advisory Committee, which is made up of local citizens,
provides recommendations on how these funds should be spent.
Contact Jake Winn at (541) 440-4930 for updates on the meeting dates or any other additional
information.

The BLM manages more land – 245 million surface acres – than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public
Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million
acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM’s multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public
lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation,
livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.
