BLM Road and Ranch Maintenance Underway
Road maintenance activities are currently underway at the Bureau of
Land Management’s North Bank Ranch approximately 12 miles
northeast of Roseburg. The project will improve access in the area for
everyone as well as protect our natural resources. Maintenance
activities include culvert replacement, road re-surfacing, and repair of
slides, washouts and stream crossings. The work is expected to be
completed by October 3.
Recreationists utilizing the North Bank Ranch should be alert for
additional traffic and equipment on the roads, as well as the possibility
of temporarily closed access roads.
To provide for public safety, the contractor may periodically close the
gravel road leading from the main entrance to the Comstock Day Use
area while work is in progress. The public should avoid using the
Blacktail Basin road where the road work is being performed and
equipment may have the road blocked.
The main entrance gate will be open the normal summer hours from
8:00am to 8:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Maps of the work area and
changes to the information in this notice will be posted on the board at
the main entrance.
