Upper Deschutes Resource Management Plan Update February 2002 Meeting Update The following is the latest meeting schedule for the Upper Deschutes Resource Management Plan Issue Teams. If you are not a chartered member of an Issue Team please contact the team lead to confirm that times and locations of meetings have not been changed. Land Ownership: March 13, 2-5, TBA Transportation and Access: March 13, 9-12 Redmond Library Land Uses: March 11 and 25, April 8 and 22, 12:30-3:30, Prineville BLM Office. Ecosystem : March 1, 8:30-2:30, Prineville BLM; (tentative, same time and place)March 18, April 15 and 18. Recreation: March 11, 9-12, Redmond Lib. Archeological Resources: March 6 and 20, 14, Redmond Library. Public Health and Safety: No Meetings Social and Economic Values: No Meetings Planning Area Boundary Change The planning area for the Upper Deschutes Resource Management Plan has been expanded by about 49,000 acres of which about 22,000 acres are managed by the BLM. The additional area is located south of Prineville Reservoir and was included after reviewing comments about the proposed plan. (see Map on back) Internet Update The Office of the Secretary, Department of the Interior, has given approval for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to restore access to the Internet. The BLM is again able to send and receive e-mail to and from organizations and individuals connected to the Internet. In addition, the BLM’s public websites are again accessible through the World Wide Web. Information about the Upper Deschutes Resource Management Plan will be available at: http://www.or.blm.gov/Prineville/Deschutes_R MP/Home.htm. The Deschutes/Ochoco National Forest web site, www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/blm, will continue to serve as a backup website if the BLM is again denied access to the internet. In the meantime the Deschutes/Ochoco website will provide a link to the Upper Deschutes Website.
