The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice is designed to prepare students for professional and research careers in criminology, criminal
justice and related fields. Students seeking this degree will examine and critically analyze the criminal justice system from a psychological,
sociological, legal and administrative perspective. While the curriculum is intensely devoted to law enforcement, courts and corrections,
students will also become knowledgeable about such issues as domestic and international terrorism, drugs, crime causation, victims,
ethics, white collar/corporate crime, juvenile delinquency and gangs. Ultimately, the mission of the program is to produce graduates who
possess the necessary skills and knowledge to function in the twenty-first century criminal justice system.
TROY’s Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice is often chosen by students who are:
• Preparing for employment in municipal, state and private agencies; federal law enforcement agencies; administrative positions in
municipal or state agencies; or as instructors in police education programs
• Seeking a career in probation, parole, or institutional services with either adults or juveniles
• Preparing for law school, court administration, paralegal work or legal research positions
