Had athletes qualify for national championships in men’s and women’s
swimming and diving as well as women’s track each year. In swimming, I
coached one female swimmer to four individual NAIA national
Miller vita Page 3 championships, 14 others to All-American status, 33 to honorable AllAmerican status, and 8 teams were recognized as Academic AllAmerican. In track and field, four women achieved NCAA III AllAmerican status while I was coaching the team. Three former track and
two former swimmers have been selected the UW-Stout Athletic Hall of
Fame. Former swimmer was selected as a first team member in two
events for the Wisconsin Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
All-Time Swimming and Diving team.

Since 2001, I have directed 50 graduate students in research projects. Four of the
projects resulted in publications in peer-reviewed journals and eight have been
selected as poster presentations at national conferences.

of over 11,000 season ticket holders for the Texas Tech athletic department in
Spring 2007.

Since 2001, I have overseen 86 internships in which relationships were
established with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Byron Nelson
EDS PGA Championship, Texas Motor Speedway, Navy MWR, Houston Astros,
National Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, Winston-Salem (NC)
Warthogs, United States Olympic Center (Colorado Springs), Dallas Stars,
Albuquerque Isotopes, Nashville Sports Authority, Rice University Athletic
Department, University of Texas (Austin) and Texas Tech Athletic Department
among others.
Through these associations we have been able to bring in internship onsite
coordinators from the Byron Nelson Classic, Texas Tech University Athletic
department as well as others to speak to graduate students about internship
opportunities.

Due to a conversion from WebCt to Blackboard, several Texas Tech faculty
members were selected to take advanced classes. I was one of the faculty
members selected to the program entitled Spring 2008 Blackboard Pilots.

Learning (2008). Dr. Susie Whittington, Associate Professor in Human and
Community Resource Development at The Ohio State University. The
Morning Session was titled "Classrooms: Your Database for Publishing
the Scholarship of Teaching". The Afternoon Session was titled
"Teaching with flair '\(fla(a)/(e)r, n. [fr.flairier|. natural ability or
capacity]"
Activities Related to Traditional Curriculum
Met with Dr. Coy Callison, Director of Graduate Studies in the College of Mass
Communications, to consider developing a joint doctoral program
(in progress).
Developed a dual-degree Sport Management graduate program with the Texas
Tech University Law School (in progress).
Developed graduate class, ESS 5329 Sport Event Management, to be designated
as a service learning class in Fall 2008. Worked with the National
Collegiate Triathlon Championships.
Developed graduate class, ESS 5317 Applied Sport Marketing, designated as a
service learning class in Fall 2008. Worked with the Lubbock Renegades
(af2 team).
Visited with Dr. Shane Blum to create a collaborative program between the
Department of Nutrition, Hospitality, and Retail and Exercise and Sport
Sciences graduate programs (2007).
Developed and proposed an undergraduate sport management curriculum - 2006
Developed and proposed a new graduate class, Sport Event Management ESS
5329. The class was approved by ASCAP and the Provost office in
Februrary 2005.
Assisted Dr. Steve Richards, Interim Department Chair, in proposing to ASCAP a
title change for ESS 2225 (Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard
Training) to Water Safety Instructor (2005). It was approved.
Chaired the committee for the development and implementation of the Sport
Studies track within the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport
Sciences.
