Biological and Environmental Sciences
Student Researchers Elena Brown, William Sapp, Madison
Cooper, Katrina Bokenfohr and Callie Bennet along with Dr.
Christie Magrath and Joong Wook Park received grants from
the Tri Beta National Honor Society.
Social Science
Drs. Jenny Brooks, Kris Ross, Robert Burroughs, Chris
Shaffer and Kirk Curnutt have collaborated on another
successful Alabama Humanities grant for the Wiregrass Blues
Festival to be held in the Spring of 2016.

The Alabama Humanities Foundation also awarded Dr. Kirk
Curnutt funding for the 2016 Alabama Book Festival.
John W. Schmidt Center for Student Success
Service Learning and Civic Engagement
Troy’s Campus Kitchen Project celebrated its 1st year of
service November 12th. In this first year, 379 volunteers
dedicated over 1200 service hours to prepare 3,926 pounds
of food into 5,163 meals for our community’s needy
families.

Kyle Gassiott in partnership with Jeannie Thompson
(Alabama Writers’ Forum) received grant funding from the
National Endowment for the Humanities and Alabama
Humanities Foundation for Alabama Pulitzer Prize Winners
in Their Own Words: Radio Documentaries.
