Lakeview, OR - Over the past several days the SCOFMP area has received a significant amount of rain and with it an abundance of lightning. On July 5th, lightning produced 9 wildfires (5 on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, 3 on the Bureau of Land Management Lakeview District, and 1 on Oregon Department of Forestry protected lands) for a combined 2 acres. On July 6th, abundant rain and lightning produced another 11 wildfires (5 on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, 1 on the Bureau of Land Management Lakeview District, and 5 on Oregon Department of Forestry protected lands) for a combined 1 acre. All fires, from both days, were contained at initial attack sizes.

FIRE UPDATE

Fremont-Winema National Forest, 1 on the Bureau of Land Management Lakeview
District, and 5 on Oregon Department of Forestry protected lands) for a combined 1

SCOFMP consists of lands managed by the Fremont-Winema National Forest (FS), the
Bureau of Land Management Lakeview District (BLM), Oregon Department of Forestry
Klamath & Lake District (ODF), National Park Service - Crater Lake (NPS), and U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service Sheldon-Hart & Klamath Basin (FWS).
National Weather Service – Medford, OR has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect
from 2 pm (1400 hrs.) to 11 pm (2300 hrs.), Tuesday for scattered thunderstorms and
dry fuels. Expect afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible throughout this week.
Temperatures will start to cool Tuesday approaching seasonal temperatures toward the
end of the week. Expect gusty and erratic winds near thunderstorms.
