A. Cross Country Route
Al is the cross country route between High Desert Trail and Big
Indian Creek Trail. A2 is the cross country route ties the High
Desert Trail and the Little Blitzen Trail together. A2 route may
not be needed because the segment L connects to segment H
then to segment B. A3 is the cross country route that would not
be needed if the hiker just followed the Indian Creek Road.

Segment C was once a part of the two track mining roads. This route is no longer being used
for motorized access. Visitors park their vehicles on private lands and hike up to the Pike
Creek Trail.
All segments of road s/ways are utilized for grazing management (monitoring: utilization,
supervision), first-rate motorized recreational opportunities (OHVing, hunting: antelope,
deer), wild horse viewing, dispersed motorized camping. All segments are of this area are
well-traveled by motorized vehicles during the deer and antelope seasons.
This area is highly valued for its OHV. Recreationists have expressed their desire to keep
these roads open. This is the mostly highly used routes on the east side of the Steens
Mountain CMPA. Segment L provides another access to the High Desert Trail.
