This ro ute is a way between t he BLANK WSA and Steens Mountain Wilderness. This way is a
very popular route fo r OHVing, access to deer and antelope hunters. The way provides
access to t he Kige r Gorge Trail. The Kiger Gorge Tra il provides access to the bottom of Kiger
Gorge for opportunities fo r recreat ionist t o f ish in Kiger Gorge Creek.
The way provides access for BLM t o mainta in a snow fence, w hich is let down each fa ll and
put back up each summer. Along with this route is the only access t o Mountain Top Pastu re
in the Chimney Allotment.

This is the only route in the pasture that would be used for firefighting.

Explain
The route may be used in the North Steens Ecosystem Restoration Project Sept 2007.

Yes, the route could be used to get off the Steens Mountain if the Loop Road was
impassable.
