Today’s Matchup
“4 Downs” with the Bulldogs
1 - Saturday will mark the first-ever gridiron meet-
ing between Liberty and Bryant of the Northeast
Conference (NEC). It will mark the longest road
trip in program history for the Bulldogs, based in
Smithfield, R.I.
2 - Bryant’s roster includes two Virginia natives,
freshman wide receiver Torrey Dixon (Dumfries)
and freshman offensive lineman Shawn Golson
(Petersburg). Golson closed out his high school
career at Williams Stadium, helping Dinwiddie
capture the VHSL Group 4A state title in December 2013.
3 - In its seventh season as an FCS program, Bry-
ant is off to an impressive 3-0 start. The Bulldogs
opened the year with a 13-7 victory at former
Big South member Stony Brook on Aug. 28. Most
recently, they defeated No. 23/20 Maine by a
13-10 count last Saturday. As a result, Bryant has
earned its first-ever Top 25 ranking, reaching No.
25 in this week’s FCS Coaches Poll.

NEC opponents, including 3-0 in Lynchburg.

Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Robby Justino has
held the program record for passing yards at 9,548
since wrapping up his career in 1992. Junior Josh
Woodrum could put that mark in jeopardy during
his final two seasons with the Flames, and this
chart will track his progress.
Entering the Bryant game, Woodrum has thrown
for 5,271 yards, putting him 387 yards ahead of Justino at the same stage of his career.
Justino threw for 262 yards during the fourth game
of his junior season, a 12-10 setback at Morehead
State.
