Adding the CSU Replay tool into Interact 2
Overview
CSU Replay recordings can be added to your Interact 2 site by several methods depending on the
type of Interact site and whether or not you wish to see more than one CSU Replay repository in
your Interact 2 site.
Before you begin
Before you can activate the CSU Replay tool in Interact 2, you must first have a CSU Replay site
created for you. Some schools have this process done for you automatically, and others require
you to Opt-in for CSU Replay.
To Opt-in for CSU Replay, please fill out a learning and teaching booking form located on the
CSU Replay Service Catalogue site. The direct link for this form is
http://www.csu.edu.au/division/dit/forms/csu-replay/registration-form.htm
When the CSU Replay site is created, you will receive a confirmation email.
Activating the CSU Replay tool in Interact 2
After you have received a confirmation email from the Division of Information Technology (DIT)
that your CSU Replay site has been created, you can add the tool to your Interact 2 site. Before
proceeding, you need to identify whether this is a Subject site or an Organisation site.
When looking at the left side of your Interact 2 site, you will see the name of the site listed. If this
site begins with an S- then it is a Subject site, if this begins with an O- then this is an organisation
site.

Subject Sites
If you have received your CSU Replay site creation email, you need to turn on the CSU Replay
tool in Interact 2. You will need to be in Edit Mode in Interact 2 to complete this. To turn on Edit
Mode go to the top right hand corner of your Interact 2 site and if edit mode is Off, click the button
to turn it on.
Next, click on the + sign in the grey toolbar on the left hand side and select tool link.
Type “CSU Replay” in the name box and choose CSU Replay
from the drop down menu.
Tick the Available to Users box to enable students to see the link and press
submit.
This will place CSU Replay in the right hand menu. You can change the
order of the items in this menu be moving your mouse over the arrows on
the left of the field you wish to move and drag this to the new position.
With the CSU Replay link added this way, members of the subject will not
have to sign in again to watch the CSU Replay recordings as they have
already signed in to Interact 2 and this successful authentication is shared
with the CSU Replay server.
Organisation Sites
To add the CSU Replay link in an organisation site, or if you wish to have a second CSU Replay
link in a subject site, you have to add the CSU Replay link manually into Interact 2.
You will have received a confirmation email from the Division of Information Technology that
contains the direct link to your CSU Replay site. Highlight the text of the URL for the CSU Replay
site and copy this to your clipboard
Please Note: If you are using WebOutlook for your email, please treat this URL as text and do not
right click and copy URL. WebOutlook changes the URL to one going through outlook and if you
use the copy URL right click option students and other staff will be unable to see the recordings.
The correct URL will look similar to this:
https://ecessprod.csu.edu.au:8443/ess/portal/section/4145071a-9056-4f46-b99bc42d9c5996fe
The URL that WebOutlook creates will look like this

Opening CSU Replay course portal within interact 2
CSU Replay has a different view depending on the permissions of the person accessing the link.
The presenter of the course receives access to analytical information and special tools that
everyone else does not see.
Non-presenter View
Students and other staff who are not listed in the CSU Replay server as a presenter receive a
listing of the recordings as well as quick access to any bookmarks that they have made on any
recording in the course as well as seeing any discussion points.
 Bookmarks made by user
 Discussions for recordings viewable
by everyone
 List of recordings
 Play streaming version of recording
 Direct download of audio or video of
recording. Clicking this will save the
media file to your computer.
Pressing the Play button will launch the selected
recording in a new window.

Presenter View
When a presenter accesses the CSU Replay link they have access to several extra tools as well
as viewing analytical information.
 Overview of views of all
recordings
 Discussions
 Recordings or Reports tabs
 List of recordings
 Play button
 Information toolbar
 Analytical summary for
currently selected recording
 Scroll bar to see more
recordings (visible when you
mouse over)
The Overview of views for all recordings lists recordings by date and graphs unique and
cumulative views for those recordings by default. This information can also display access
information for all recordings by week by choosing this in the drop down menu
Page 7 of 10
The discussions area shows an overview of discussions made from all people
accessing recording.
Clicking on one of these discussion points will launch the recording that the
discussion was added to and start the recording at the point the discussion was
created.
Recordings Tab
The recordings and reports tab changes the view of the lower part of the screen. When the
Course Echoes tab is sellected (default) the screen displays a list of the recordings on the left
hand side, and specific information about the sellected recording on the right hand side.
The right hand side by default displays analytical information about the currently selected
recording with the number of unique and cumulative view for that recording as the type of
discussion activity occurring for that recording.
A heat map is also included to help you identify portions of the recording that are being watched
more than others. With red being the “hottest” and blue the “coolest” portion of the recording.
Clicking on any location of the heat map will take you to that portion of the recording for you to
review.

change this panel to information about
the recording.
From here you can:
 Download the audio or video to
your computer

Make the recording unavailable
to students

Give a description to the
recording

Get the Embed Code to directly
place this recording inside a web
page (including an Interact 2
module or announcement).
Reports Tab
The Reports tab will display detailed information on access by students to the recordings.
This can display an aggregate of access by students or specific information on one student. You
can press the export button at the bottom of the screen to download a zip file with this information
into CSV files that are viewable in Microsoft Excel.

Troubleshooting display problems in Interact 2
If your Interact 2 subject site CSU Replay link does not work please first confirm that you have had
a CSU Replay site created.
If this is a merged Interact 2 site we may have the wrong site code on the CSU Replay server. To
rectify this Contact the Division of Information Technology Service Desk on 84357 or use the selfservice portal at https://itilweb.csu.edu.au/webaccess and provide us with the following
information:

Get the name of the site as it is displayed in
Interact 2 (e.g. S-ACC100_201530_B_D)

From the notification email that was sent to
you by the Division of Information
Technology when the CSU Replay site was
created, please copy the subject name and
provide this name to the Service Desk.
We will then relink the correct CSU Replay site to your Interact 2 subject site and notify you when
this has been completed for you to test.
