Fort Collins Utilities Community Engagement Internship (unpaid) JOB DESCRIPTION Assist Utilities Community Engagement (CE) department with organizational priorities related to resource conservation and affordability programing implementation. CE facilitates participation in Fort Collins Utilities programs and services through program management, customer education and community partnership. LOCATION • 200 W Mountain Ave office. Offsite events and meetings not uncommon. PRIMARY ACTIVITIES • Sustainability smart phone app data management and outreach coordination via Lose-A-Watt Energy Prize project • Porchlight canvassing project and volunteer coordination via Lose-A-Watt Energy Prize project • Utilities low-income assistance stakeholder inventory and partnership development • Train local businesses on resource conservation best practices via WorkWise Challenge • Provide ongoing support and communication to local businesses via WorkWise Challenge • Track, analyze and report WorkWise Challenge data • Recruit (in person or via phone) businesses to participate in ClimateWise • Visit local businesses to assist in implementation of sustainable business practices • Conduct community engagement activities via Utilities information and education events • Additional tasks as assigned EXPECTATIONS • Ability to act professionally when interacting with internal and external stakeholders • Ability to effectively schedule meetings, determine priorities and organize a calendar • Ability to share key program messages clearly and effectively • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities • Strong professional presence, written, communication and research skills • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and internet search engines • Responsible, organized, detail-oriented, motivated and creative • Interest in corporate sustainability, public-private partnership and the important role community organizations play in local government TIME COMMITMENT AND AVAILABILITY • Summer 2016, 10-20 hours per week • Typical assignments occur M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm with flexible schedule within those hours BENEFITS TO INTERN • Working for a good cause! • Valuable learning opportunity with award-winning and forward-thinking Fort Collins Utilities • Access to City application system and select internal opportunities • Access to City educational opportunities • Development of business acumen, communication and program development skills • Academic and community service credit available when all criteria are met LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES REQUIRED • This is a position of trust; background check required To apply for the Fort Collins Utilities Community Engagement Internship submit an application, letter of interest and resume to Pete Iengo, [email protected].
