Apply for an Urban Garden
License (small fee yet to be
determined)
Notice
A neighborhood meeting, posted
notice or mailed notice may be
required for urban gardens
located in residential zones or of
a certain size/threshold.
Garden Standards
Urban Gardens must comply with the
following conditions:
- Mechanized equipment (noise levels)
- Parking (provide adequate off-street parking)
- Chemicals/Fertilizers (follow state/federal
regulations)
- Trash/Compost (screening, setbacks, removal)
- Proper maintenance (Chapter 20 City Code)
- Contact information posted on-site
- Floodplain use permit required if located in
floodplain
- Additional mitigation may be required

(combined) allowed based on
your lot size:
Only 2 miniature goats allowed
(no more and no less)
Miniature goat breeds include
the African Pygmy & Nigerian
Dwarf
Lots less than ¼ acre = up to 6
Lots ¼ to ½ acre = up to 8
Lots larger than ½ acre = up to 12
Permeable space requirement of
300 square feet.

Larimer Humane Society. $30.00
license fee good for all chickens
& ducks.
License miniature goats with the
Larimer Humane Society. Fee to
be determined (slightly higher
than chicken/duck license fee).
