That’s why, since 1999, the City of Fort Collins has aimed high with our environmental goals. Our revised 2015 Climate Action Plan is the strategic guide for aggressively reducing greenhouse gas emissions in a manner that benefits environmental, social and economic drivers in our community. Our Climate Action Plan goals are ambitious, admirable, and will take significant community support to achieve. But no one ever solved the world’s problems by aiming low. The triple bottom line: The City’s commitment to sustainability systematically and creatively balances environmental, social, and economic health to meet present and future needs of our community. We want to ensure a healthy, safe, sustainable and carbon-neutral community that: • Develops innovative solutions to impact climate change that protect the natural environment, ecosystems and human health. • Helps businesses and residents adapt to climate change. • Supports business innovation in a carbon-neutral economy. • Leverages community carbon reduction goals to develop new products and services. • Provides opportunities to support optimal physical and mental health for all. Financial Investment: Using data-based projections, the City estimates that the strategies in the Climate Action Plan identified for implementation between 2015 and 2020 could carry a $600 million cost. Because of that investment, the Fort Collins community may see savings of $300 million in efficiencies, energy costs and resource use. It’s estimated that between 2015 and 2050 total net savings will reach $2.5 billion to $6 billion. Track our progress at www.fcgov.com/climateaction
