How Do Participants Pause Stop Webcam?

How do Participants pause or stop the webcam in a meeting?
If Hosts enable webcam for participants it is best practice for Participants to:
1. pause or stop their webcam in a meeting.
Participants can:
• pause the webcam by:
i. hovering the mouse over the far right hand bottom corner of the video
pod:
and
ii. selecting the pause icon.
This will pause the webcam. Other participants will see the video pod with the
webcam paused icon.
Participants will see the video pod with a play icon in the middle of the video
pod.
•
re-start the webcam by selecting the play icon (triangle) in the middle of the
video pod.
•
stop their webcam by selecting the “Stop My Webcam.
2. minimise download for other participants by minimising the use of the webcam.
Participants are encouraged to:
• implement best practice with web conferencing by:
i. limiting webcam use to a short introductory minute or two and then
pause or stop the webcam.
ii. modelling the behaviour they expect from other participants by
minimising their webcam use.
This enables participants who may be coming in from a distance on
ADSL to use the available bandwidth to see the screens and hear the
sound that may be more important to them than the facial expressions
of other participants and the Host.
An exception would be where facial images may be essential as part of
the learning.
iii. pausing their webcam after they have shown their image if webcam is
enabled.
•
use the pause or stop webcam function.
If participants don’t use the pause function or stop their webcam then their:
i. sound quality may be affected;
ii. system may struggle to download the ever changing videostream.
