Annual Leave Loading
Am I entitled to Annual Leave
Loading?
Annual leave loading is payable to continuing and fixed term employees.
The maximum payment levels are set out below;
 General staff - maximum payment up to Level 10, Step 1.
 Academic staff – maximum payment up to Level B, Step 6.
What if I am a Senior or
Executive Staff member?
Your leave loading is rolled into your annual salary.
How is Annual Leave
Loading calculated?
It is calculated on 17.5% of 4 weeks of your ordinary salary at
30 November.
When is it paid?
Annual leave loading is paid in December each year.
Annual Close Down
When does the University
close down?
The Vice-Chancellor may approve the annual close-down of all or part of
the University during the Christmas/New Year period.
Do I need to take leave
during the close down?
Yes, during a close-down, staff members are required to take annual
leave or flexitime to cover those days that are not public holidays.
Public Holidays
Am I entitled to Public
Holidays?
Staff members are entitled to the public holidays proclaimed by the
government of the jurisdiction in which they work.
What happens if I am
required to work on a Public
Holiday?
Staff members may be required to work on a public holiday. A per hour
loading applies for general staff who are directed to work on these days.
