Upcoming Technology Projects Impacting Faculty Prepared for Academic Technology Committee December 2015 Project Moodle Upgrade Impact to Faculty Moodle will be upgraded from version 2.8 to 2.9 during winter break; users will not be affected. New features include: Portfolium Approximately 25% of CSUN students already use the new ePortfolio tool to showcase their work to future employers, connect with fellow students, and network with thousands of companies. Faculty can also access Portfolium (csun.portfolium.com) and encourage students to: myCSUNsoftware 3D Applications Showcase their class projects, community service projects, etc. Participate in monthly challenges to win prizes Request help from student CSUN Portfolium Student Ambassadors to get started and learn how to effectively use their electronic portfolios. Students have access to software from any PC, Mac, Linux, or mobile device with an Internet connection via myCSUNsoftware. In Spring 2016, students will have access to new 3D applications: Virtual Private Network Quiz section headers allow users to customize a section or page within a quiz with actual titles. Quiz questions can be conditionally released based on a student or user's answer to another question Instructors will be able to delete course topics/sections completely from the course page. ArcGIS AutoCAD (HHD and ECS) SolidWorks (ECS) CSUN’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) is used by some faculty as a secure method to access campus resources from off-campus locations – a secure network “tunnel” to the campus. A new VPN (vpnconnect.csun.edu) will replace the aging VPN in January 2016. One-time installation and setup is required. During spring 2015 semester, both the old and new VPN will be available. The old solution will be decommissioned in May 2016.
