Behavior Assessment System
• three main components of the BASC are the Teacher
Rating Scales (TRS), the Parent Rating Scales (PRS),
and the Self-Report of Personality (SRP)

Teacher Rating Scales and the Parent
Rating Scales
• The TRS and PRS are quantitative rating scales
providing a stem to which the respondent replies Never,
Sometimes, Often, or Almost Always.
• The TRS provides a comprehensive review of behavior
at school, and the PRS provides similar information for
the home and community settings

Self-Report of Personality
• The SRP is an omnibus personality inventory that
presents statements to which a child or adolescent
respondent replies true or false. This inventory surveys
both personality and clinical dimensions of behavior

BASC : Administration and Scoring
• Responses transfer directly to a scoring sheet concealed
beneath the record form.
• The items are reordered on the form so that the child,
parent, or teacher may not deduce correspondences
between the items and subtests and subsequently make
invalid responses
• Respondents should feel relaxed and comfortable with
the test and setting, just as with lengthier standardized
tests. With any test, a respondent may linger over the
items, lose interest in completing the test form, or
respond so as to create a good or bad impression.
