Reading Is Better Than TV
By Brandone D.
A lot of people don’t read much anymore.
Reading is one of the keys to doing well
in school. Kids in school should read
during the week. It is healthier for you, it
increases education, and you have more
fun.
Believe it or not reading is healthier than
TV, because when you plop in front of the
TV you bring junk food with you as your
friend. When you sit in front of the TV,
you don’t get enough exercise because you
don’t move around as much. Your social
skills go down because you don’t want
other people around, and that has an effect
on how you greet, and how you socialize
with people.
In addition, reading increases your
education. Maybe you see the word
“Murmured” in a book and you ask your

parent for the definition. That means if
you see it again in school you don’t have
to use the dictionary to look it up. When
you read you create a picture in your mind
so you use your imagination more. You
know more about writing because you see
different techniques.
Most importantly, you have more fun.
When you read different series, the people
go to weird and fun places like the desert
or the North Pole. It also feels like you
meet new people like King Tut or Santa
Claus. Reading also allows you to be more
creative.
It is obvious that reading is better than TV.
P29net quotes: “Fourth graders that watch
TV tend to not be as good in school as
those that read.” Furthermore reading is a
better hobby than TV!
Don’t Stress
Miss Eva Speaks
by Eva W. and Sylas S.
Miss Eva is sitting at her desk writing advice
to a young girl when suddenly Sylas bursts
into her room ranting, “I have so much stress
because of my homework! It is way too much
and very hard. I just need help. I am falling
apart. Miss Eva, you have to help me!”
*Call a friend who knows the work and ask if you can meet at the library.
*Think about a happy time you had.”
The next day:
As Sylas passes Miss Eva in the hall, he says,
“Thanks, Miss Eva. I did all my homework
and I’m stress free. Next time I get stressed,
I will remember your advice. I will tell my
family and friends.”
Stuffed Up
My nose is running
My voice is deep.
I have a cold.
I want to sleep!
I'd rather be home
And not in school.
Just lying around,
Running hot and cool.
When I am lame
During the day
A video game
Miss Eva tries to calm him down by saying,
“Yes, I can. Don’t worry. Relax! Everyone gets
stressed about homework. There are things
you can do to help yourself:
*Take a break, calm down and don’t think about your homework.
*Talk to a friend or a teacher and express your feelings.
2 *At home, sit on the couch.
I like to play.
I have a cold.
I will rest my head.
I feel achy and old
So I hop into bed!
