Job Description:
The ACORN Multimedia Outreach Assistant will provide support to ACORN's team by
promoting and advertising ACORN's outreach efforts, from regional farmer trainings to
organic consumer events. With a focus on social media and online tools, the
Multimedia Outreach Assistant will work to build community awareness of local organic
food options across Atlantic Canada.
Specific tasks will include:
• Build ACORN's social media presence by sharing dynamic content through the
organization's various platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
• Update ACORN's Online Organic Directory with point-of-sale information and
promote the enhanced tool to consumers
• Encourage participation in Organic Week by reaching out to to retailers,
restaurants and producers across the Maritimes and supporting their activities
• Support with ACORN’s on-going projects and event planning, including Atlantic
Farmshare Network, Grow A Farmer Program, Seed Program, etc
Qualifications:
• Strong interest in organic food and agriculture
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience with various social and multimedia tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with Macs would be considered an asset
Eligible Applicants must:
• Have been registered as full-time student in the previous academic year and
intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee
protection has been conferred.
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Job details:
37.5 hours/week at $12.00/hour for a 10-week contract with negotiable start date.
The successful candidate will work out of ACORN’s office in Sackville, NB.
